New Park at Pembroke Rd & Hiatus?

It appears the City of Pembroke Pines is contemplating constructing a new park at the corner of Pembroke Road and Hiatus where the former Raintree golf course was located.  The golf course was sold in 2005 near the height of the real estate boom.  It then sat vacant as what was once a beautiful golf course view from my balcony turned into a property which was somewhat neglected.  The city acquired the property in 2009 and is now contemplating constructing a nature preserve and park.  Part of the property is privately owned and a shopping center was planned at one point.  But who needs more retail space given the high vacancy rates of nearby shopping centers in the area?  The issue will be discussed in an upcoming hearing.
